8 - 12 Sept 2010
Cape Town is often referred to as one of the high-risk areas in the world with a murder rate on par with that of the infamous Rio de Janeiro according to the United Nations. A conglomeration of formal and informal settlements, the Cape Flats is particularly known for its violent nature, specifically due to drug abuse and gangsterism. The area of Retreat falls within this battlefield, a community desperately in need of the Gospel message!

Hungry hearts pack a local hall
From 8 – 12 September 2010, the hall of a local high school exploded with the abundant love and healing power of an omnipotent Saviour. The Gospel was preached concisely and passionately by both Evangelists Tamryn Klintworth and Edward Ackerman, the name of Jesus being lifted high as King of kings and Lord of lords. In John 12 v 32, Jesus says the following: “But I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all men to myself.” Truly, we do the preaching and He does the drawing! Each evening people flooded forwarded to call on Christ to be their Lord, accepting Him as their Saviour in a heartfelt prayer. Many fell on their knees in earnest petition, shedding tears as they encountered the love of an all-forgiving God.

People stream forward to accept Christ
During prayer for the sick, miracles occurred once again in abundance. A certain lady had been in and out of hospital for the past few years due to a problematic knee that refused to correct itself. In tremendous pain, she came to the crusade for prayer. Indeed, God healed her completely, the pain disappeared entirely and full mobility was restored! A woman struggling with slipped discs in her back for almost fifty years, is now bouncing for joy entirely free from the agony that had tormented her for decades. Another struggling with migraine headaches for over four years, came one evening with one such pounding headache blurring her vision. Upon prayer, the migraine immediately vanished! We trust the Lord that it will never return! A gentleman with severe backache could no longer afford to purchase pain medication. Sitting in the service listening to the Gospel message being preached, he felt a warm sensation moving through his arm and into his back. Immediately, all discomfort disappeared! Amen! The Holy Spirit could clearly not wait to get the job done! A woman arrived in a wheelchair, fighting against the immobilising effects of a stroke. After prayer, she took a first few hesitant steps from her chair, soon jiving with joy as she felt strength and mobility return to her body (see image below). What a mighty God we serve!

This lady (with blue skirt and black jersey) rose up from her wheelchair!
As usual, the final service concluded with teaching on and prayer for the Baptism of the HolySpirit. Both young and old were filled with an abundance of living waters, speaking in new tongues and experiencing a life-changing encounter with the Holy Ghost.

Tamryn moves down the prayer-line
We glorify God for yet another harvest of transformed lives. Souls were saved, broken bodies healed and the captives dramatically set free. All glory be to Jesus, our King of kings and Lord of lords!
