23 - 27 June 2010
The suburb of Lotus River lies within the mountainous beauty of Cape Town, South Africa. In itself however, this community is noticeably underprivileged. Crime levels are high and the general appearance of the area is one of poverty and decay. Yet, the hope brought by the Gospel message is the ultimate cure for hearts ridden with despair and lives devoid of purpose. Indeed, where the Good News is preached, lives are impacted with eternal consequences!

A capacity crowd fills the crusade venue
Over 23 – 27 July, a five-day Gospel Crusade was held in a local community hall. Each evening saw the venue packed with men and women desperate for a radical encounter with the King of kings and Lord of lords. Surely, they were not disappointed! The Good News went forth on a nightly basis with strength and clarity, the altar flooded with new converts at each invitation to receive salvation. Both young and old responded, all with a heartfelt conviction plainly evident from faces wrought with emotion.

People respond as Evangelists Tamryn Klintworth and Edward Ackerman preach the Gospel

The power of Christ is certainly not limited to the saving of a soul. As is custom at such a crusade, the sick and oppressed were prayed for with fantastic results. A certain lady struggling to walk due to legs crippled from arthritis, leapt with contagious joy as she bore witness to the healing power of God. From chronic backache to chest pains, testimony after testimony of deliverance caused the crowd to stand to their feet in jubilation. A diabetic young woman had been suffering with dangerously high blood sugar that refused to stabilize. On coming forward for prayer, she had her sugar levels tested the very next day. Hallelujah, the results stunned her doctors – all was normal! A man suffering from partial deafness found his hearing to be completely restored. Those tormented by demons regained their freedom. What a wondrous God we serve!

Hallelujah! The sick are healed and the captives set free!
As is the practice of the In His Name team, the final meeting on Sunday evening saw the Baptism in the Holy Spirit being taught on and prayed for in addition to salvation and healing. With hands lifted to heaven and hearts bursting with expectancy, the Spirit filled those in attendance with the same divine fire that fell on the day of Pentecost. A torrent of new tongues rose heavenward, the recipients overcome by a deluge of His presence.
Yet another crusade, yet another victory for the Kingdom of Heaven. We glorify our Lord for His bountiful goodness and unfailing love!
